Connecting Points – September 24, 2017

Random Act of Kindness Cards – Pick up a card every week from a display in our gathering areas. Use it to share the love of Christ in a surprising, creative, and unexpected way!

Need Prayer? – If you would like our prayer team to be in prayer for a concern, fill out the Prayer Request card found in each pew, call the church office, or enter it on the AFUMC website. The number for the Upper Room Prayer Line is 1-800-251-2468. This is staffed 24/7.

Ghana Sunday & Soup Fundraiser Today! – The Ghana Mission Team will be sharing about Ghana today. They will also have a soup fundraiser, which will offer “dine in” or “to go” orders for $5 in the fellowship hall. There will be items for sale as well.  Please join us!

New Sunday School Study – Join the Beyond Contemporary Sunday School Class on Sunday mornings at 10:55 a.m. in room 117 as they begin a new study entitled A Clash of Kingdoms.  Discover how Paul communicated the Good News of Christ to Philippi, a Roman colony that worshipped false gods. Can you live the message as Paul did while he encouraged the church in Philippi to consider itself a colony of heaven, not Rome? Consider your citizenship – and the message you convey to the world – as Ray Vander Laan takes you deeper into the culture of ancient Philippi.

Thank you for volunteering at the Disaster Warehouse in Decatur! We had a wonderful turnout for our trip to the UMCOR Disaster Relief Warehouse in Decatur on Saturday, September 16. We had 40+ of our church family volunteer their time. During this trip, we made hygiene kits, flood buckets, school supply bags, tornado kits, and much more. This is a great ministry because it lets us “be a good neighbor” to those in need. It is also a wonderful time to fellowship within our church family as we work for a few hours then enjoy lunch together. We will be going again soon, details will in the next week or so.

Wednesday Night Menu – The menu for Wednesday, September 27th will be sloppy jo tater tot casserole, green beans, salad, garlic bread, and birthday cake. Dinner starts at 5:00 and classes at 6:00.

Card Ministry – Brooke Hemphill’s Wednesday night small group is working on a card ministry for the church. We are looking for donations of any stock of cards. They can be blank, occasion specific, or even children’s cards. If you would like to donate to this mission, please leave them in the church office. Thank you!
