Connecting Points – July 2, 2017

Random Act of Kindness Cards – Pick up a card every week from a display in our gathering areas. Use it to share the love of Christ in a surprising, creative, and unexpected way!

Need Prayer? – If you would like our local prayer team to be in prayer for a concern, contact us by one of three ways – fill out the Prayer Request card found in each pew, call the church office, or enter your request on the AFUMC website. The phone number for the Upper Room Prayer Line is 1-800-251-2468. This line is staffed 24/7 so you can pray with someone any time of day.

Church Office Closed for 4th of July – The church office will be closed on Tuesday, July 4th in observance of the 4th of July.

Summer Kitchen Painting – Mrs. Terry and Todd have volunteered to paint the kitchen. They will be painting in sections as they have the time. Please be patient through this task. If your group uses the kitchen, please be mindful of new paint and always put away anything you use. Thank you!

VBS Registration is Well Under Way  – If you haven’t already registered your child, you may fill out a registration form (located in the Church office, outside Ms. Heather’s office downstairs, or in the hallway outside the sanctuary), or you can register online at  Dinner registration and T-Shirt orders are due by July 9th.

VBS Donation Board – Please take a moment to pick a “window” off the VBS donation board located by the Hospitality Desk.  Purchase the item and return it to the bin.  Thank you in advance!

VBS Needs Your Old T-Shirts – We would like to make superhero capes out of t-shirts for all the “Heros” at VBS this year. If you have any old t-shirts you don’t wear anymore that have a solid-colored back, please consider donating them to this cause.  We can use any size from Youth M to Adult XL. (The front doesn’t matter because we will only use the back.)  You may put them in the donation bin by the VBS Donation Board.

Toilet Paper/Paper Towel Tubes – We are collecting empty toilet paper and paper towel tubes for VBS again this year.  We need 2 per child, so please begin saving yours and bringing them to Ms. Heather.  Thanks!

VBS Work Session – The next VBS work session will be July 5, @ 6:30 in the Fellowship Hall for anyone not on vacation who would like to help with VBS prep. Our final work session will be on July 12.

VBS Leader Training – There will be Crew Leader and Station Leader training on Wednesday, July 12, in the Fellowship Hall.  Crew Leaders will meet 6:30 – 7 and Station Leaders will meet 7-7:30.  If you are volunteering in either of these roles, please plan on attending.

Change in Sunday Schedule for Fifth Sunday Praise Gatherings! Our Church Council would like to try “Fifth Sunday Praise Gatherings” approximately once a quarter (when there is a fifth Sunday in the month). On fifth Sundays, the idea is to have a joint Sunday School session at 9:00 a.m. and a joint worship service at 10:00 a.m. (a combined service for the people of all three services), with a pot-luck lunch afterward at 11:15 a.m. for the whole church family. Our first one will be July 30!

Fellowship Hall Closed for Stripping & Waxing Floors – The Fellowship Hall will be closed from 6:00 pm on Sunday, July 30th through Saturday, August 5th, so the floors can be stripped and waxed. All scheduled meetings and groups have been relocated. Please avoid the fellowship hall during this time. Thank you!

Thank you from the Alice Reed Family – We want to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and donations to the building fund. We appreciate your graciousness during our time of grief. – The Family of Alice Reed
