Random Act of Kindness Cards – Pick up a card every week from a display in our gathering areas. Use it to share the love of Christ in a surprising, creative, and unexpected way!

Upper Room Prayer Line – The phone number for the Upper Room Prayer Line is 1-800-251-2468. This line is staffed 24/7 and gives you an opportunity to pray with someone, no matter the time of day.

Sunday School Teachers Needed – We currently need a teacher for the 4th Sunday in the PreK class; 2nd and 3rd Sundays in the K/1 class; summer substitute for 2/3 class; July substitute for 4/5 class. Please help out. Our children need you! Volunteering one Sunday will make a difference.

Dinner Honoring Roy & Kathy Bryant – Join us Wednesday, May 17 at 5:15 PM (normal Wednesday night meal and gathering time) when we honor Pastor Roy Bryant and his wife Kathy in a time of food and fellowship as we bid them farewell and thank them for all their time with us at Arab First United Methodist Church. The supper menu will be hamburgers/hot dogs, potato salad, pasta salad, chips, and desserts.


Mission Meeting for follow-up for Activate ConferencePlease come to room 112 (Class Of Our Redeemer) on Wednesday, May 17 at 7:00 pm to join those that were in attendance at Activate to discuss how AFUMC wants to “do mission,” making plans as to how to proceed and make happen the knowledge and insights we gained at the Activate missions conference.

Young-in-Heart – Young-In-Heart will have its next get-together on Thursday, May 18th.  We will gather by the church office entrance at 9:15 to renew acquaintances and prepare to board the church van.  The first 13 people to sign up indicating they wish to ride the van will be accommodated. Others signing up may car pool. At 9:30 we will be off to visit historic Bell Buckle, Tennessee. Please sign up at the sign-up table.

Senior Recognition Day, May 21st – We will have Senior Recognition Sunday at our church during the 10:55 am worship service, with a meal following the service in the fellowship hall for seniors and their families. There will also be a Baccalaureate Service sponsored by the Arab Area Ministerial Association at 3:00 p.m. This year, it will be held at Gilliam Springs Baptist Church.

Awards Day – Awards Day at Arab High School is on Thursday, May 18, at 6:00 p.m. Our church honors high school seniors with the Greg Beard Memorial Scholarship, Willie Ruth Brannon Memorial Education Scholarship, Ralph Cordes Memorial Scholarship, Myra Hammond Memorial Scholarship, United Methodist Men’s Scholarship, Julia Hyatt Upton Memorial Athletic Scholarship, and William Carter Reed Memorial Music Scholarship. Our scholarship committee has made selections and these will be announced at Awards Day. We are also working toward a new Jeffrey Liebner scholarship proposal.

Grace Place Program – Grace Place will have their children’s program on May 18th at 4:30 pm. Everyone is invited!

VBS Kick-off Meeting – The VBS Kick-off Meeting will be held on May 24th at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. If you would like to help in anyway, please attend this meeting.

Church-Wide Picnic June 7 with Welcome Party for the James’s – Join us Wednesday, June 7 at Arab City Park for a church picnic with Pastor Nicky James and his wife Lynn as our special guests of honor as Pastor Nicky is preparing to serve AFUMC Associate Pastor. The picnic will be held in the large covered shelter and will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Methodist Men will be grilling the meat with attendees asked to bring a side dish.  Swimming will be available at the city pool from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Bingo with prizes will be available for adults.

Operation Christmas Child – For the month of May, we are asking members to focus on bringing hygiene items. Just drop your donations in the marked boxes.

ramp at their house. They are very grateful.
