Building and Debt Update:

1)  Presentation – Thanks to everyone who came to the update by the Building Committee. A possible site development plan (with 3 future building options) was presented for further discussion during the coming months. We will make pictures available soon in the gathering area to continue the conversations.

2) Remaining Debt – Our remaining debt now stands at about $148,000. We have $78,000 available on hand in the Building Fund, which means we are lacking about $70,000 before we are able to “burn the note.” Thank you for your generous giving!

3) Youth Building – Thank you for your patience as our Trustees work with our City Council over permission for temporary space for our expanding youth ministries. The matter is being resolved as soon as possible. Please speak to Nathan Clark if you have questions.

Community Lenten Services – The Arab Ministerial Association is once again sponsoring community Lenten lunches! We meet on the Wednesdays of Lent. The brief services will begin at noon and lunch will be served at about 12:30 pm. Come take your lunch hour to share with other Christians of Arab!

Watoto Children’s Choir – April 7th – We are pleased to announce that the Watoto Children’s Choir will be here in concert on April 7th at 7:00 pm.  The Watoto Choir members are orphans and vulnerable children from the Watoto Church in Uganda. Their new production is Signs & Wonders.  The children, through worship, dance and their stories of hope, will share how their lives have been changed and how through Christ, they have been called into a life of purpose.  We host these children and the Aunties/Uncles in our church homes Friday night, providing them breakfast the next morning and a sack lunch.  If you would like to serve as a host home, please contact Debby at 256-797-4648 or the church office.

Living Last SupperJoin us for a powerful and moving Holy Week evening.  As darkness falls, voices hush, mood-setting music plays and a spotlight shines upon 12 performers role-playing the disciples.  This profound performance presents a personal perspective on the relationships between Jesus and his followers culminating in Jesus singing the Lord’s Prayer.  Join us for the Living Last supper on April 12 and 13, at 7:00 p.m. a moving Holy Week worship
experience. Please be in prayer for the gentlemen working on their disciple parts, and Justin who will be singing the Lord’s Prayer a cappela for this performance.

Scholarships for Summer Camp at Sumatanga – Arab First UMC is offering $100 scholarships (one per student per year) for children and youth who are involved in our church and who wish to go to summer camp at Sumatanga. Parents should register and pay online or by mail, then bring the registration confirmation materials to the church office for a reimbursement of the scholarship amount. Please note that in addition to this scholarship, Sumatanga offers a three-tiered pricing structure to assist you. See the “Branching Out” summer camp materials on the hospitality table for summer camp options and more details.

Operation Christmas Child – It’s not too early.  Please notice the Operation Christmas Child Collection boxes near our church entrances.  This month, March, we are asking members to focus on bringing small toys, e.g., little bags of Legos, Barbie dolls, small nerf balls, matchbox cars, small stuffed animals, etc.  We will be collecting different items each month, then scheduling a church packing party in early November.  Just drop your donations in the boxes.

Baby Bottle Boomerang – Through the Real Life Pregnancy Center here in Marshall County, you have the opportunity to support moms, their babies’ needs and the medical clinic.  Simply pick up a baby bottle located in baskets by the church office entrance and in the narthex (hallway outside the sanctuary by the tower entrance) and fill the bottle with coins, cash, or checks made to Real Life Pregnancy Center.  Then return the filled bottles to the church office.  For more information call 878-1300 or 486-2090.
