Arab First UMC Youth invite the new Confirmation Class and all youth parents to a “welcome to youth party” tonight at 5:00 pm at the youth house. We will be having a shrimp boil.

A Summer Men’s Bible Study entitled “Wild at Heart” by John Eldredge will begin soon. If you interested in this study, please contact Lee Michael.

Children’s Parents – There will be a brief meeting with Pastor Steve today, after morning worship (about 12:10 pm) in the sanctuary. He needs our help in identifying the gifts and graces needed in a future children’s director. This is important information to take to the Staff-Parish Relations Team. In the meantime, we have arranged the following transition team to cover our bases. Our church believes in our children and we have super volunteers to ensure a quality program. Here is the team: Acolytes – Anna Clark (with Leah Bishop and Carrie Walters); Children’s Church – Heather Tallent; Sunday School teacher support – Heather Tallent; Wednesday night classes – Debby Heidt; Vacation Bible School Leadership Team – Heather Tallent, Corrine Williams, and Debby Heidt; and Children’s Worship Arts – Jami Russell, Debby Heidt, and Heather Tallent.

Financial Peace – Interested in financial peace of mind? Contact Dawn Liebner by May 16th if you are interested in taking Financial Peace University this summer. This study by Dave Ramsey helps you create a plan for your money. Through video teaching, class discussions and interactive small group activities, FPU presents Biblical, practical steps to get from where you are to where you’ve dreamed you could be. This plan will show you how to get rid of debt, manage your money, spend and save wisely, and much more!

The Young-in-Heart Retreat will be May 19th from 10:00-1:00 at the Moss Lodge in Palisades Park. Shirley Gullion will lead the group in an old fashioned Gospel Hymns Sing Along. Enjoy a catered Kentucky Fried lunch bought from your dues. This is YIH’s favorite meeting and is requested each year. Sign the reservation sheet and indicate if you wish to ride in the Church van. (Bus may be available if enough sign up.) Look for maps on the sign-up-table if you plan to drive.

Watch out for the “Summer Slump!” Please help our church continue our financial health through the summer months when many are traveling. You may mail or bring tithes and offerings anytime. Have you considered a recurring electronic contribution? It’s easy, even when you travel or other circumstances prevent you from attending services. Your electronic contribution continue uninterrupted. Please go to our church website to register!

Summer Study
True or false: 1. Everything happens for a reason. 2. God helps those who help themselves. 3. God won’t give you more than you can handle. 4. God said it, I believe it that settles it. 5. Love the sinner, hate the sin. All true? Not so fast. We’ve heard these phrases all of our lives, but in Adam Hamilton’s new book, Half Truths, you’ll learn that although they capture some element of truth, when compared to the wisdom found in Scripture, they’re really just common Christian clichés.
How did you do on the true or false? Come on Wednesday nights at 6pm for this new Adam Hamilton study entitled Half Truths: God Helps Those Who Help Themselves and Other Things the Bible Doesn’t Say. The first class will be June 8 in room 121 with Dawn Liebner facilitating. Childcare will be available and will be discussed further at the June 8th class. Feel free to come for a week or for all six weeks of the study.
