Connecting Points February 14, 2016

The Wednesday Night meal starts at 5:00 pm. The requested donation for the meal is $5 for adults and $3 for children. February 17th, the meal is Soup, salad and subs, and dessert.

The Young-in-Heart will have their “Traditional Italian Dinner” February 18th at 6:00 pm. Since Terry Z is cooking the Lasagna and Spaghetti, there will be a $3 charge per person, but everyone does not have to bring a dish. Everyone 50 plus is invited, but reservations must be made by Feb.14th. Sign-up-sheet is in the main front hall to the right of the double doors. John Mullins will speak on “Common Core” and “How Text Books are Chosen for Arab Schools.” JoAnn Cleveland and Janet Calhoun will present a short, funny skit on the subject.

The March book for the Christian Book Club is “Woodlawn: One Hope. One Dream. One Way.” Copies of the book are available in the office for a donation of $9. The discussion meeting for it will be March 1st at noon in the Sisters in Christ classroom.

Ghana Mission Team Update – For those of you that missed the January 31st program about the recent Ghana mission trip, check out all the photos on the bulletin board located in the hallway from Fellowship Hall to the lower parking lot. Plans are already underway for the next Ghana mission trip, contact Lois O’Dell (Ghana Mission logistics coordinator) for details.

The Arab Ministerial Association invites you to join other Christians in our community for our Wednesday Lenten Services starting at noon, February 17th, hosted by Arab First United Methodist Church, with Keith Parker preaching.

The Preschool – 1st grade Children’s Choirs will be singing next Sunday, February 21st, during the 9:30 and 10:55 am services. Please dress in your normal Sunday attire.

Seder Meal Table Settings NEEDED! The meal will be on Thursday, March 24th. (This is the week of ACS’s Spring Break) Each table will need to be set for 6 people (unless otherwise specified) and should include the following: Dinner plate, dessert plate, drinking glass, cloth napkin, silverware (2 forks, knife and spoon), serving utensils, 1 serving platter, 2 serving bowls, small bowl for water (handwashing), salt and pepper shakers, butter dish, and coffee cups. Piano Refurbishing – Today we are happy to have our wonderful Steinway grand piano back. It has been rebuilt and refurbished. The piano was a donation by donors spearheaded by Elmer and Marie Skidmore in 1956. We give thanks to our anonymous donors who provided for this restoration and look forward to many more years of beautiful music. Please note that we are asking that no one play on our newly refurbished piano following worship services.

Vacation Bible School Cave Quest 2016 – “Following Jesus, the Light of the World” will be held July 11th – 15th from 5:45-8:00 pm
