has to offer adults this school year on Wednesday nights!

Starting Wednesday night August 19 at 545pm

Prayer As The Heart’s True Home” = Pastor Steve West An adult prayer study led by Pastor Steve for four weeks for all adults on Wednesday nights starting August 19.  The fourth Wednesday on September 9 will be an experiential prayer event. This study encompasses experiencing the Lord’s Prayer by experiencing God’s intimacy and transcendence (first section), experiencing the Kingdom ushering in (second section), and experiencing the Kingdom belonging to God (third section).

A Year of Blessing (Group Publishing)

Facilitator:  Holli Shelton for MOMS (Ministry Of Moms Sharing), meet in room 103

This study for moms helps them find thanks for the good days and the not-so-good days through faith-based discussion on topics that discuss the blessings and challenges of motherhood.  (This class is for mothers.)

Battlefield Of The Mind (by Joyce Meyer)

Facilitator: Joyce Marcotte, meet in room 102

Worry, doubt, confusion, depression, anger, and feelings of condemnation…all these are attacks on the mind.  Author Joyce Meyers shows you how to change your life by changing your mind, focusing your mind to think the way God thinks.  (Suggested book donation is $5.)

Disciple I (by Abingdon Press)

Facilitator:  Dr. Mary Holley, meet in room 104

Disciple I—Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study, surveys both the Old and New Testaments including most of Genesis, much of Exodus, readings from Psalms, and sections of the historical books including the exile and the return from exile. The New Testament books studied include all of the Gospels, sections of Acts, Romans, Galatians, 1 and 2 Peter, Hebrews and Revelation.  Disciple studies provide a strong foundation for understanding the Bible.  (Suggested book donation is $25 for this study of lasting from fall until spring.)

God’s Not Dead (by Rice Broocks)

Facilitator:  Brooke Hemphill, meet in room 112

Based on the hit movie, God’s Not Dead, this study will help you be prepared to defend your faith.  It will give you a strong foundation of Scripture and evidence to stand on that will not only help you stay strong, but allow you to reach friends and family for Christ.  (Suggested book donation is $5.)

The Invisible War (by Chip Ingram)

Facilitator:  Marc Scarbrough, meet in room 121

This series by Chip Ingram will help you prepare to do spiritual battle with the enemy of your soul—and win!  You will learn to clothe yourself with God’s “spiritual armor” so you can be confident of your certain victory over the scheming enemy.  (Suggested book donation is $5.  This class is for men.)

The Wisdom Of The Spirit (Bible is resource)

A survey of the Old Testament Wisdom literature.

Loops of Love

Facilitator:  Joy Privett, meet in room 118

Be a part of this group that gathers to crochet and/or knit items such as prayer shawls and chemo caps as tangible expressions of prayer and love for those in need of support and encouragement.  Instruction is provided to the beginner as well as the experienced as need arises.

Hope Beyond Your Tears:  Experiencing Christ’s Healing Love (by Trevor Hudson)

Facilitator:  Pastor Steve West

Hope Beyond Your Tears shows how Christ can transform personal pain and sadness into channels of love. Trevor Hudson takes us to Mary Magdalene’s encounter with the risen Christ, and from that conversation we discover how we can grow from our pain and deepen our relationship with God. The author is an acquaintance of Pastor Steve and is a well renowned Methodist minister in South Africa, drawing on his experiences in pastoral care to confront spiritual issues in a down-to-earth, thoughtful, and compassionate way.

(Suggested book donation of $5.  Please get your book from the church office and read the introduction and chapter 1 before the first meeting.)

A Lineage Of Grace (by Francine Rivers)

Facilitator:  Joyce Marcotte

A Christian book club is forming! The club will meet the first Tuesday of each month at 10:30 am in the fellowship hall.  Each month the group will read a book written by a Christian author and gather for a discussion based on a list of guide questions for that particular book.    At the first meeting on September 8, the group will get  books for the month and make plans for future meetings.  (A Lineage of Grace by Francine Rivers will be the first selection for the book club.  This book consists of five stories of unlikely women chosen by God who changed eternity.)  Suggestions for good books will be welcome.  For more information, call or text Joyce Marcotte at 256 224 9552, email marcotte1999@charter.net.  (Suggested book donation of $5.)

Body 4 Believers

This series of four classes promotes healthy eating with a spiritual component.  Learn the weight loss information you need to match your determination to lose weight.  Learn to eat smart and be a good steward of the body that God has provided you.  (Course is free with option to purchase food items available.)

Financial Peace University (by Dave Ramsey)

Facilitator:  Shane Withey, meet in room 104

We all need a plan for our money. Financial Peace University (FPU) is that plan!  It teaches God’s ways of handling money. Through video teaching, class discussions and interactive small group activities, FPU presents Biblical, practical steps to get from where you are to where you’ve dreamed you could be. This plan will show you how to get rid of debt, manage your money, spend and save wisely, and much more!  (Suggested class donation of $50.)

Starting Sunday September 20 at 6pm

Exploring The Way (by Upper Room Ministries)

Facilitator:  Pastor Steve West

A prequel to the Companion in Christ foundational resource, this six week experiential study (plus preparatory meeting) provides an excellent introduction to the language of spiritual formation and some basic practices of the Christian spiritual life.  (Suggested book donation of $5.)
