Study Committee Calls “Town Meetings” – If we build something, what will it be? The Study Committee needs to hear your feedback. Everyone in our church is urged to come to one of our “Town Meetings” with the Study Committee in August. The
purpose of the meetings is to share the initial list of priorities gleaned from our survey results and get feedback from you about
what direction we are going. The material presented in each meeting is identical, so choose the time that is right for you. Every voice is important, so we need you to come!

The Beyond of Christmas & Beyond was held on Saturday, August 1st. 126 young people received help with school supplies. Drawstring backpacks with assorted Christian items were given to each student and each parent/guardian also received a Christian gift. Prayers were shared with each individual for a safe and successful school year. (For more than 30 years, AFUMC has helped needy children with a Christmas outreach event and then reconnected with these same children at the start of the school year. AFUMC members are blessed and are so willing to share their blessings with others…thank you.)

Kelly’s Rainbow Safe House kitchen is in serious need of renovation for victims of domestic violence. Arab First United Methodist Church’s goal for the month of August is to collect $600 in contributions. Checks can be made payable to AFUMC with Kelly’s Rainbow on the memo line.

Crosses in Office – There will be more free yard crosses, along with an edited version of the accompanying letter, in the church office for you to pick up this week.

Flowers for Worship – It is a wonderful sign of resurrection life to provide fresh flowers to beautify our worship space. At Arab First UMC, we continue our historic relationship with Buddy’s Country Flowers, who has faithfully provided our weekly flowers for worship for some time. When you sign up to provide flowers, this is the florist we automatically have in place. However, if you would like to make arrangements to use another florist in town, you are welcome to do so. Just let the office know that you will be ordering flowers from another source. You would be responsible for calling Buddy’s Country Flowers and letting them know that they would not need to provide them that week.
