A Tuesday morning book study begins this week with Pastor Steve West, 9:30 am to 10:30 am in room 112 in the lower level of the church. We will study chapter one of the book The Way of Grace: Finding God on the Path of Surrender by Glandian Carney (with Marjean Brooks). Books are in the church office for $5.

The Arab Ministerial Association invites you to join other Christians in our community for our Wednesday Lenten Services starting at noon. February 25 – Truth Church, (2411 North Brindlee Mountain Parkway) with Keith Parker preaching

Lois and Brian O’Dell will be sharing about their recent mission trip to Eugemot Orphanage in Ghana, Africa today, February 22, in the Fellowship Hall at both 9:30 am and 10:55 am. Their program is for children, youth, and adults…everyone is invited.

A Lenten study in Thirsty Class (Adam Hamilton’s study “24 Hours That Changed the World”) begins today at 10:45 am and ends on Easter, April 5th. Lent is an ideal time for committing to growing your faith through fellowship and adult discipleship. All ages are welcome, and childcare is available. The Men’s Chili/Soup Cook-off is tonight at 6:00 pm. Bring your favorite chili or soup to share at a fellowship supper. Prizes will be awarded for the best chili and best soup. Those not wanting to participate in the cook-off can help by bringing cornbread, crackers, and desserts. Join us for this night of good food and Christ-like fellowship.

Arab First United Methodist Church will be hosting a Women’s Conference that is aptly named “Walking in Faith – Transforming Your Life”. The Friday session (February 27th) will start registration at 5:30 p.m. with the program beginning at 6:00 p.m. The Saturday program (February 28th) will begin at 9:00 a.m. and wrap up about 2:00 p.m. It is a full weekend of accomplished Christian speakers and musicians that promise to lift your spirit, as well as a Christian “marketplace” featuring specialty artists! New 10:55 am Young Adult Sunday School Class – Beginning March 1st, join Lois & Brian O’Dell, Clayton & Laura Liebner, and Dawn Liebner in room 118 (Hope class room) for a new young adult class. The class is open to college students, singles, couples…young is the key. Parents are welcome to bring their littles ones to class vs. leaving them in the nursery.

Jewish Heritage Presentation – This will be on Sunday, March 1st, after the 9:30 service in the Fellowship Hall. Ever wonder what those Jewish holidays on the calendar actually mean? Understanding the Jewish roots of our faith helps us to understand Jesus himself. A Jewish family within our church has volunteered to share their knowledge and experiences with those who wish to understand more about Jewish culture. The focus will be on the Hebrew calendar holiday, Purim. Purim is a special celebration of the story found in the book of Esther. All are welcome and there is no cost to attend.

The First Grade and under children’s choir will be singing Sunday, March 1st, during the 9:30 and 10:55 am services.

Discovery (March 6th – 8th) is fast approaching and the youth would like to invite you to be a part of this experience with us. Discovery will be March 6th- 8th. We’re asking for individuals to sign-up for an hour slot and pray anytime during the hour. You may pray in the location of your choice or join us on the campus in the Prayer Chapel. This will be the week of March 1-7. A calendar will be in the narthex, so please take advantage of this opportunity to bless the youth and Discovery weekend.

Baby Bottle Boomerang is annual fundraising event for the Marshall County Crisis Pregnancy Centers. It’s easy. Get a bottle from the church office or Sunday school classroom. Collect change, bills or a check, and you will receive a receipt. (Make checks payable to: Real Life Crisis Pregnancy Center.) All proceeds will benefit the Crisis Pregnancy Centers in Arab & Albertville.

Prayer Calendar – In the Prayer Room is a sign-up sheet for an ongoing prayer calendar. Your commitment would be to spend time on one particular day each month in prayer for our church. We encourage you to come to the prayer room that day, but you may also hold your prayer time at home.

Prayer Partners – In the Prayer Room is a basket and slips of paper for you to use to join Prayer Partners. After they are collected for a few weeks, Prayer Partners will be assigned and the list will be posted. Participants will be assigned one of the other volunteers to pray for regularly, and a different person will be assigned for you

Opportunity to serve Monday, March 16th this will be at the United Methodist Northwest District Disaster Warehouse in Decatur. We will be taking the church van; meet at the church at 8:00 am. We will work until lunch, have lunch and return to Arab with our goal for arrival in Arab being 2:30 pm. Adults, youth and older children are invited to attend. All Children’s Choirs will be singing Sunday, March 29th, during the 9:30 and 10:55 am services. This is for children ages 3 years – 5th grade. Please dress in your normal Sunday attire.

The youth mission trip this year will be to Camp Sumatanga helping them getting ready for summer camp. We will be going June 7-12. We also are going to the Wesley Groups at some of the universities with the senior high to help get the Wesley Fellowship buildings ready for the school year. We will be painting, cleaning, landscaping, and etc. We have envelopes on the welcome desk that are numbered 1-150. We ask that you donate in the amount of the envelope you chose. So if you chose number 47 we ask you donate $47. We also thank you for your continual prayer.
