Challenge for 2014
To read the entire Bible; for it is the true rule and guide for faith and practice.
Join the Thirsty Sunday School class at 10:55 am, room 118 as they begin Beyond 30 Seconds: Developing a Welcoming Congregation. Each session explores how to view welcoming newcomers (as well as welcoming people in general) not as a program, but as a way of living within the body of Christ. The United Methodist Church motto of “open hearts, open minds, open doors” can become a reality as individuals themselves greet and serve with open hearts and open minds. The class contact is Myles Teston at firstname.lastname@example.org or cell number 256-200-2189.

Ladies Bible Study beginning Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 1:00 pm until 2:00/2:30. Have you ever wondered about the women of the Bible? In a society that did not historically value women, how were they able to accomplish what they did and can modern day women do the same? Doris Adler will be facilitating a class on Women of the Bible, which will try to answer these questions and discuss how they relate to our lives today. Come and join us as we explore the lives of these remarkable women and apply that insight to our time and ourselves. We will be using room 117, in the lower level of the church. Hope to see many of you there. More people produce more ideas which makes for a more interesting class!

Arab First UMC Shirts–Your input is needed! At the recent servefest at Arab Community Fair, it was discovered that Pastor Steve does not have an AFUMC t shirt! Then it was noted that several others are at a loss as well! To remedy this situation, we are having a t shirt design contest. Help design a t shirt that AFUMC members of all ages can wear at any event. All designs will need to be turned in to the church office by noon on October 6.

We are asking for donations of adult sized, 100% cotton tee shirts (used and even damaged ones are fine), flour-sack towels or flat diapers, and $1. The tee-shirts will be used to make flat diapers, diaper inserts, and cloth wipes. The flour sack towels (found at Walmart with the kitchen towels, about $5 for 5) are used for flat diapers. The $1 will be put toward diaper covers. T-shirt and flour sack towel donations can be placed in collection bins located at all 3 entrances, and $1 donations can be placed in the box in the office. Contact Laura Liebner at 256-738-1242 or any UMW Circle 6 member as needed.
