I would like to warmly welcome you to Arab First UMC Student Ministry. We call our ministry The Well. The well symbolizes all of those who are thirsty and are in need, for Christ Jesus said “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
It is a great honor for me to serve our youth and families of our congregation and our community. Please join us on our journey with Christ.
I have an exciting year planned with several opportunities for all of you to grow in your walk with Jesus. On our website, you will find a complete calendar of our weekly youth meetings and dates for all major events for the year. I hope that our Student Ministry page will help you plan to be a part of this exciting ministry.
I look forward to having the opportunity to minister to you and your family this year. If you have any questions about our ministry here, please feel free to call my cell phone. You can also reach me by email. Again, I am glad to be a part of this ministry, and I hope you are as well!
Our Youth Ministry offers a warm, welcoming, comfortable place for our teens to come and connect with other teens as they grow in faith, discover God’s love and lean to honor God with all they have.
Meets in the youth house on Sunday mornings at 10:55 (we attend 9:30 Contemporary Worship and eat breakfast at 10:30 in fellowship hall). Bible lesson and discussion.
Meets at the youth house on Wednesday nights at 6:00. This is our main youth night, with Bible study, games, and fellowship.
Youth Mission Trips
Mission trips give the youth an opportunity to travel to other communities and focus on helping others. Past trips have been to Mountain T.O.P., SIFAT, Upper Sand Mountain Parish, Copperhill TN, Tuskegee AL and Slidell LA to help with Hurricane Katrina recovery. These trips give the youth the assurance that they can make a difference in the lives of others by sharing a Christian attitude and a willing heart.
These trips offer an escape from the weekly routine of school, sports, and extracurricular activities. This is also a time for the youth to bond together in a spiritual atmosphere where they are the focus of the retreat. Strength to Stand and Xtreme Winter Fest are our winter retreats both in Gatlinburg TN.
Discovery is a weekend that is spent at our church. The youth will have the opportunity to experience the love of God in a special way. We believe that Discovery transforms the lives of individuals as well as the life of our church. Whether your teen has been active or not, we feel that they need to be included in this weekend of Discovery. Everyone is invited to experience the love of God and find out how much God has to offer them in their life journey.
Behold is a great retreat! You will see bands, hear speakers, and enjoy the company of over 1,000 youth from North Alabama. The retreat is held at Camp Sumatanga over MLK weekend every year.
Picnics, Pool Parties, Concerts, Bowling, Ice Skating, Roller Skating, Sporting Events, 5th Quarters, CPR (Camping, Praising, Rafting), Canoeing, Messy Games, Photo Scavenger Hunts, Movie Nights, Lock-ins, and Lock-ins, and Youth-led Bible Studies are a few of the many activities that youth can participate in here at Arab First UMC.
Exciting things are always happening in the youth group. For fresh, up-to-date information on what’s going on, click HERE to check out our “Well Water” youth Facebook page!
