Heather Tallent

Heather has been a part of the Arab First UMC congregation for 19 years, ever since she and her family have been living in Arab. She began her journey as part-time Director of Children’s Ministries in the Fall of 2016.

Heather is a professional educator and teaches elementary school for the Morgan County Board of Education during the week. She and her husband Paul, the band director at Arab High School, have a son Benjamin who is one of the many great kids in our children’s ministries. Before becoming director, she was already heavily involved in developing our new Children’s Worship Arts program and directed the largest Vacation Bible School in our history. She embraces innovation and creativity and is excited about the future of children at Arab First UMC! She wants to partner with families for the purpose of bringing children into a relationship with Jesus Christ, helping them to grow in their love for God and their service to others.

Heather holds a Masters in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama in Birmingham and a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from the University of North Carolina.

Did you know …

Heather worked at a toy store in high school. What excellent preparation for her ministry here! She has known Paul since the fourth grade as her “brother’s friend” in Drum Corps. When she was in high school, Paul turned her room upside down and didn’t confess until years after they got married. It’s a good thing.
