Debby Heidt

Debby has been active for over 20 years in multiple roles at Arab First UMC, serving families, youth, children, and worship and the arts. She is presently on staff as Assistant Director of Children’s Ministries as well as continuing to serve as one of our Co-Directors of Worship and Creative Arts. Originally from Northern Ohio, Debby is married to Randy. They moved to Arab in 1990 when Randy retired from the Army after 20 years of service. She has lived and worked in Ohio, Kentucky, and Germany and until her recent retirement, she worked for the Army in G-3 Operations, U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command. Her passion, however is her service at Arab First UMC.

Debby is grateful to God for the many blessings in her life and feels that service is that expression of gratefulness and love. As assistant Director of Children’s Ministries, she directs summer Vacation Bible School and the children’s arts programs. She conducts adult and children’s handbells and children’s choir, and assists with worship arts in various ways. She serves with media and visuals in the contemporary service, as well as outreach in activities like the Living Last Supper, Live Nativity, and Seder meals. Debby graduated from Colombia College with a degree in General Studies with multiple elective classes in Biblical studies and Christian Education.

She and Randy have five children and eight grandchildren, Shawn (married to Laura, and they have Ethan, Davin, and Owen), Jennifer Rose (married to Matt, and they have William and Elizabeth Rose), David (married to Erin, and they have Emma Grace), Jennifer Lee (married to Dana, and they have Cody and Chase), and Alan (married to Jennifer Lee). Yes, all their girls are named Jenny!
