It is an honor and privilege to serve this wonderful congregation, and I encourage you to come and worship. I invite you to laugh, cry, dream, and explore faith in Jesus Christ with me. All are welcome, for the table where we gather is a table of grace. It would give me joy for you to give it a try, perhaps becoming part of this community of faith in the future.
If there is one thing I’ve learned in my years of being a pastor, it’s that every person is created in the image of God to reflect the light of God’s glory. We are crafted through the divine Word, Jesus Christ, without whom “nothing was made that was made.” (John 3:1). So we have the imprint of Christ’s love on our very being. We may not know it yet, and may not live it well, but faith in Christ restores us and sets us a continual journey of becoming all we are made to be. Nobody is perfect (I certainly am not), but our imperfections lead us to trust and point to the strength of God. We accept each other in love and behold the beauty in each person.
I often joke that “if you ever find the perfect church, don’t join it … you’ll mess it up!” Yet as quirky and human as we all are, by the grace of God we are the body of Christ, redeemed by his blood. The church is the gift God gave to share the love of Christ for the transformation of the world.
Perhaps you have reached a place where you are deeply hungry and thirsty, looking for more out of life. The greatest form of transformation happens when we discover life is not about success, having all the answers, working hard, or being good enough. Our spiritual formation is really not about us. It’s about God.
So all are welcome in this place. Come, discover, and experience God’s grace!
