“Discerning the Voice of God” Thursday Bible Study – “Is that you, God?” Have you asked that question before? Maybe many times. How do we know if it’s God speaking to us or just our own wants and desires making themselves known? It’s called discernment……being able to discern the voice of God from all the other voices we hear. On January 18th a new study by Priscilla Shirer will be offered entitled “Discerning the Voice of God”. Nancy Stewart will lead this seven week study each Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. in class room 101. As Shirer explains, “God desires a personal relationship with each of us in which He speaks directly to us. The more intimate your relationship with Him, the clearer God’s voice becomes!” Come joins at 10:00 a.m. beginning January 18th. If you have questions or need a book, contact Nancy Stewart at 256/586-0351.
Young in Heart – For our January meeting, Young-In-Heart, the Senior Adult Ministry of AFUMC will gather on the 18th, at 11:00AM in the Church fellowship hall for our post-holiday gathering. Be prepared to be treated to some truly wonderful bluegrass and gospel music presented by the FBC Pickers. Lunch will be our ever popular no charge pot luck “Blue Plate Special”. Please bring your favorite southern side dish or dessert. A signup sheet will be in the Narthex, please indicate the item(s) you will bring. Fish and chicken strips will be provided. Your 2018, $15 annual dues are now due and may be paid at the door. All seniors are invited to join our fellowship. Guests are always welcome. See you there!
Explorations Class for Visitors, Guests, and New Members! Pastor Steve and Sandy West will lead a five-week study on the ministries of Arab First UMC and on Methodist beliefs and practices. The class is especially for new people but everyone is invited to come and find out more. There is no commitment just by coming! It will begin on Sunday, January 28, at 6:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Please let the church office know of your plans to attend so we can prepare.
We Raised the Entire Amount for the Tree and Sound Board! We have received all that is needed for the new Chrismon tree and the new soundboard that were both put to use before the holidays.
