Summer Kitchen Painting – Mrs. Terry and Todd have volunteered to paint the kitchen. They will be painting in sections as they have the time. Please be patient through this task. If your group uses the kitchen, please be mindful of new paint and always put away anything you use. This summer they will paint the main kitchen, janitor room, and the dishwasher room.
Fellowship Hall Closed for Stripping & Waxing Floors – The Fellowship Hall will be closed from 6:00 pm on Sunday, July 30th through Saturday, August 5th, so the floors can be stripped and waxed. All scheduled meetings and groups have been relocated. Please avoid the fellowship hall during this time. Thank you!
VBS Registration is Well Under Way – If you haven’t already registered your child, you may fill out a registration form (located in the Church office, outside Ms. Heather’s office downstairs, or in the hallway outside the sanctuary), or you can register online at http://cokesburyvbs.com/arabumc. Dinner registration and T-Shirt orders are due by July 9th.

VBS Needs Your Old T-Shirts – We would like to make superhero capes out of t-shirts for all the “Heros” at VBS this year. If you have any old t-shirts you don’t wear anymore that have a solid-colored back, please consider donating them to this cause. We can use any size from Youth M to Adult XL. (The front doesn’t matter because we will only use the back.) You may put them in the donation bin by the VBS Donation Board.
Toilet Paper/Paper Towel Tubes – We are collecting empty toilet paper and paper towel tubes for VBS again this year. We need 2 per child, so please begin saving yours and bringing them to Ms. Heather. Thanks!

Change in Sunday Schedule for Fifth Sunday Praise Gatherings! Our Church Council would like to try “Fifth Sunday Praise Gatherings” approximately once a quarter (when there is a fifth Sunday in the month). On fifth Sundays, the idea is to have a joint Sunday School session at 9:00 a.m. and a joint worship service at 10:00 a.m. (a combined service for the people of all three services), with a pot-luck lunch afterward at 11:15 a.m. for the whole church family. The first one will be in July!
Prayer Retreat Planned for Upper Room in Nashville – Mark your calendar – here’s your opportunity to view the renowned life-size wood carving of the Last Supper, walk through the beautiful, serene gardens and spend time in the “Alone with God” prayer room! You can do all these things while also taking part in a two-day prayer retreat in one of the most reverent locations in the country. Our church Prayer Team will host this special retreat at the Upper Room in Nashville, September 21st & 22nd. We will spend two days and one night in the newly remodeled Scarritt-Bennett guest accommodations adjacent to the Upper Room. We will be taking the church van as well as private vehicles for the trip. For more information about this opportunity contact Pastor Steve or Nancy Stewart.
The Walk to Emmaus Updating – Have you ever gone on an Emmaus walk? If so, please notify the church office as a current list of participants is being generated. (In particular, we are looking for those that have gone on walks in 2015, 2016, and 2017 to update our records.) Thank you!
Operation Christmas Child – For the month of June, we are asking members to focus on bringing accessories. Just drop your donations in the marked boxes.
New Youth Space Opening Soon! – Our youth are incredibly important to our church and we are committed to provide them room to grow between now and a future building project! In June, we are redesigning the interior of the existing storage building on the back of our property (near the youth house) so it can help accommodate our expanding youth program. The youth group will for the first time have a large gathering place for worship, games, and activities. Lighting is being installed, emergency exit signs are being put up, storage is being consolidated to the side walls and covered by curtains, and a stage with new sound equipment and lighting is being set up.
