Flower Calendar for 2017 – Please get in touch with the church office to reserve Sundays on the altar flower calendar for 2017. Fresh flowers bless our worship life and are a wonderful way to do something in honor or memory of someone special. Here are the details: There are two arrangements each Sunday (you may reserve one or both). The first one to reserve an arrangement for a Sunday chooses the florist for that Sunday. Buddy’s Flowers provides a standard, classic arrangement, and costs $35 per arrangement. Scott’s Urban Earth can provide a standard $35 arrangement or coordinate with you to provide a custom-designed arrangement.

“Laugh Again” Study – Beginning on January 11th “When did life stop being funny?” Charles (Chuck) R. Swindoll asks. The answers are found in his best-selling book, “Laugh Again”, which speaks to all the busy, joy-drained people – from the pressured businessman to the harried homemaker. In “Laugh Again” readers will discover ways to live in the present, say “no” to negativism and realize that while no one’s life is perfect, joy and humor can definitely be inspirational! Swindoll effectively links the gospel with today’s many challenges in an effort to show us how to find and keep our personal joy. Come join this enlightening, uplifting class starting Wednesday evening, January 11th at 6:00 p.m. For further details or to get your copy of the book contact Nancy Stewart, 256/586-0351.
“Letters and Papers from Prison” Bible Study – Join Pastor Steve for an adventure with Paul in Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon. So many famous people wrote from a jail cell, from Dietrich Bonhoeffer to Martin Luther King, Jr. How did persecution affect Paul’s writings? What do they say to those of us “imprisoned” in 21st century culture? We start on Wednesday, January 11 at 6:00 pm. There is no homework and you can come anytime!
JAAM Kids – JAAM is on Christmas Break and will resume on January 11th.
Philippians Study to Begin January 12th – What is the difference between happiness and joy? Some would say there is no difference but at closer inspection and reflection we learn that unlike happiness which can be fleeting, joy runs deeper and stronger. It is the quiet, confident assurance of God’s love and work in our lives – that He will be there no matter what. Happiness depends on happenings but joy depends on Christ! Philippians is Paul’s joy letter in the Bible. The Philippians had played a very important role in Paul’s growth as a Christian leader and so he wrote them a personal expression of his love and affection – the Book of Philippians. This special book of the Bible emphasizes the real joy of the Christian life……its pages actually radiate the positive message of love, joy and hope. On Thursday, January 12th the Women’s Bible Study will embark on a study of this very special book. We meet at 10:00 a.m. in the Sisters Classroom Downstairs – come enjoy great conversation, tasty food and lively discussion! For more information contact Nancy Stewart at conversation, tasty food and lively discussion! For more information contact Nancy Stewart.
