A NEW STUDY’S beginning in the Thirsty Class today, July 17th and ending on August 21st. Becoming a Contagious Christian (BACC) is a 6-week study, co-authored by Bill Hybels, designed to teach principles of evangelism to Christians. The goal here is to learn ways to respond to Jesus’ great commission to spread our faith and make disciples. SPOILER: It doesn’t involve door-knocking, bull-horns & bicycle circuits (necessarily). Come hear about the Footprints’ Ministry – On Wednesday, July 20th at 6 pm in room 118 (room of Hope Class), Arab First UMC will be privileged to have the coordinator of the Footprints’ Ministry speak. Footprints’ Ministry reaches out to parents who have a baby in Neonatal ICU at Huntsville and Crestwood Hospitals. The MOMS group packed 70 bags (items donated by Circle 6) for Footprints’ Ministry to distribute to parents. These bags contained a Bible, burp cloth, receiving blanket, fast food gift card, Kleenex, hand sanitizer, and hats knitted or crocheted by our Loops of Love ladies.
The Fellowship Hall will be closed the week of July 24th – July 30th. The floors are being waxed and we ask that you DO NOT WALK on the floors. The work will start around 1:00 pm on Sunday, so please get everything you need out of the basement area before 1:00 pm.
Summer Voice Recital -Thursday, July 28th, at 6:00 pm, Brian Quillin’s summer students will be presenting their program in the Sanctuary. All are welcome.
A Senior Adult One Day Revival at Arab First Baptist Church will be on Wednesday, August 3. The first Session begins at 10:00 am with Rev. Randy Burtram from Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Holly Pond speaking. Lunch will be provided by the church, (please call the church office 256-586-3153 to make your free reservation so we can plan for food). The second session starts at 1:00 pm with Dr. Sammy Gilbreath, Evangelism Department, Alabama State Board of Missions. Special Music will be at both sessions. A Love Offering to be taken. We would love for you to join us for a day of great preaching, music, food and fellowship!
Fall Prayer Retreat – Pastor Steve invites you to an overnight prayer retreat for the men and women of Arab First UMC on Thursday-Friday, September 8-9, at the retreat center of Sacred Heart Monastery in Cullman. Steve will facilitate our journey, with one of the sessions hosted by one of the sisters. The theme will be “The Word is Very Near You: Three Ways to Pray the Scriptures.” Registration forms with all the details may be found on the Hospitality Table. Friends are welcome.
Aging Is Not For Sissies. Are you making the most of your “Golden
Years”? In an effort to reach the aging population of our community with pertinent information and creative solutions, Arab First United Methodist Church is hosting a unique event entitled “Aging Is Not For Sissies”. The event will be held at the church Saturday, August 20th from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The agenda includes a keynote address by Rev. W.G. Henry to be followed by informative sessions on “The Financial Realities of Retirement”, “Preventing Identity Theft”, “Making Your Home a Safe Place” and “Identifying the Early Signs of Dementia”. There will also be a panel discussion regarding the Role of the Caregiver. Throughout the day Marshall Medical Centers personnel will be on hand to do free health screenings as well. This informative morning is being offered free of charge to the entire
