The Wednesday Night meal starts at 5:00 pm. The requested donation for the meal is $5 for adults and $3 for children. April 13th is Chinese night, with teriyaki chicken/chicken fingers, fried rice, egg rolls, salad, and desserts.

The Emmaus Cluster will meet at Guntersville First United Methodist Church on April 12th at 6:30. Remember it is “pot luck”. If you bring a dessert bring a drink to share.
The Methodist Women will be on April 13th at noon in room 102. Bring a sack lunch, if so desired, as one of the perks of offering a meeting at noon is to enable women that work in the community the opportunity to attend on their lunch breaks.
On April 21st the Young-in-Heart will go to the Bevell Center in Huntsville at 11:00 for a buffet lunch. Cost with tax is $9.26. (We will collect it that morning so bring cash.) Then at 12:30 we will go to see the Lowe Mill artist at work. No cost but they take donations. Make your reservations at the sign-up-table and indicate if you want to ride in the church van. Directions will be on the sign-up-table.
In April, Circle 6 will be hosting a drive for the North Alabama Cloth Diaper Bank! We are asking for donations of flour sack towels (found in the kitchen towel section of Walmart), flat cloth diapers (new or good used condition), and $1. The money will be used to purchase new cloth diaper covers. There are collection baskets at each entrance, and dollars can be placed in a collection jar in the office.
Relay For Life Yard Sale – AFUMC will hold its annual Relay For Life yard sale on Saturday, April 30 from 8am to 2pm. (The actual Relay For Life is May 13 from 5pm to 11pm at Arab Soccer Fields. Donations for the yard sale will be accepted the week of the yard sale.
UMCOR Opportunities—volunteer and donate items for flood buckets! On Saturday, April 23, Leslie and Patrick Smith will be carrying donated flood bucket supplies as well as volunteers to Decatur to the UMCOR Disaster Warehouse. We will meet at the church at 8am, and do volunteer work until lunch, eating before returning home. Donations of supplies for flood buckets can be left at the office. Supplies needed are: liquid laundry detergent (25 or 50 ounce bottles), liquid household cleaner (12-16 ounce cleaner that can be mixed with water, no spray cleaners), liquid dish soap (16-28 ounce bottles), air freshener (aerosol or pump), scrub brushes (plastic or wooden handle), cleaning wipes (handi-wipes or reusable wipes, no terry towels), sponges (no cellulose sponges), scour pads (no stainless steel or pads with soap built in), clothespins, clothesline (50 feet or 100 feet, cotton or plastic), dust masks, kitchen dishwashing gloves (thicker, reusable gloves), work gloves (cotton with leather palms). Please donate items in sizes listed as bucket contents are standardized.
April 27th Tornado Day of Remembrance – On Wednesday, April 17th (the five year anniversary of 63 Alabama tornadoes) our prayer room will be available all day from 8:00 – 4:30 for anyone in the community to pray. Come by for a few minutes, our church has also organized a noon ceremony outdoors at the memorial garden at the home of Roger and Debby Head (2503 Ruth Road). The public will be invited and the Arab Ministerial Association will lead the ceremony and prayer.
High School Seniors! We would like to publish your senior portrait in the church newsletter and bulletin. Please email it to firstname.lastname@example.org or bring a senior portrait to the church office by May 6th. In addition, we would like 5 informal pictures of you during different stages of your life. These will be used for a slideshow on May 22nd.
Summer Sumatanga News – If your child is interested in attending summer camp this year, the 2016 schedule is online at www.sumatanga.org. Lee will be at Sumatanga the week of June 5th—10th if you’d like for your child to be there while someone from our church will be in the area. That week for grades 3rd– 4th there is a Taste of Camp 1 and 2, a Grand Camp 1 and 2 (grandparents and grandchild), and grades 1-3 Day Camp 2. There’ll probably be a church van traveling back and forth if you’d like your child to go. If you have any further questions, please contact Jennifer or Lee.
