Connecting Points March 6, 2016

The Wednesday Night meal starts at 5:00 pm. The requested donation for the meal is $5 for adults and $3 for children. March 9th, the meal is BBQ pork sandwiches, chicken fingers, baked beans, tater tots, and dessert.

The Emmaus Cluster will meet at Guntersville First United Methodist Church on March 8th at 6:30. Remember it is “pot luck”. If you bring a dessert bring a drink to share.

The Arab Ministerial Association invites you to join other Christians in our community for our Wednesday Lenten Services this week at noon, March 9th at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Jamey Pruett, pastor of Gilliam Springs Baptist Church, will be preaching.

Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts will unite in celebration of Scout Sunday at the 10:55 service on Sunday, March 13th. All scouts, regardless of Troop or Pack number, are welcome take part in the Scout Recognition. Participants may attend practice on Sunday, March 6th at 2:30 in the fellowship hall led by Troop 60 Senior Patrol Leader Hamil Miller.

Young-in-Heart will meet March 17th at 10:00 am for sharing some St. Patrick’s Day folklore. We’ll sing some Irish songs, share Irish sayings and stories about our Irish ancestors. A prize will be given for the best “baloney” told that day. Terry Z will cook some corned beef and cabbage to go along with other Irish foods. The extra cost per person is $2.00. Be sure to sign-up at the sign-up table. Don’t forget to wear something green!

A limited number of Easter lilies will be used to decorate the church for Easter Sunday. Each 6 inch pot with single stem Easter lily costs $15. If you make a purchase you are free to take one of them home after the late service on Easter. Please turn in all donations to the church office, checks payable to AFUMC and marked “Easter lilies”, if you would like to help with this endeavor.

Children’s Worship Arts will be singing Sunday, March 20th, during the 9:30 and 10:55 am services. Please dress in your normal Sunday attire.

Seder Meal Table Settings NEEDED! The meal will be on Thursday, March 24th. (This is the week of ACS’s Spring Break). Each table will need to be set for 6 people (unless otherwise specified) and should include the following: Dinner plate, dessert plate, drinking glass, cloth napkin, silverware (2 forks, knife and spoon), serving utensils, 1 serving platter, 2 serving bowls, small bowl for water (handwashing), salt and pepper shakers, butter dish, and coffee cups.
