VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
July 6th -10th – Monday – Friday
5:30 pm until 8:00ish
All children ages 3 years through those entering 5th grade are welcome. If you have a two year old you would like to bring, you may do so but an adult must stay with them and help them throughout the evening. Kid friendly supper for workers and campers will be served from 5:00 – 5:25 pm.
Camp Discovery VBS Mission Project. To fit along with our Camp Discovery VBS and Camp Heritage Sunday themes, the VBS project we will support this year is Camp Sumatanga. Several of us are products of Camp Sumatanga and it’s a very special spiritual place for us. Without continued support, the place we know and love will cease to exist. We will be collecting donations for camp such as: outdoor games and gaming equipment (balls, Frisbee, beanbags, cones, corn hole, etc.), indoor games (board games, card games, group games, etc.), gardening equipment (shovels, hoes, gloves, spray bottles for round up, etc.), and of course we will gladly except monetary donations through Sunday, July 26th.
Communion is served in the Prayer Chapel each Sunday between services (9:00 – 9:15am) and (10:30-10:45am)
The Andy Griffith Women’s Summer Bible Study that meets on Tuesday mornings at 10am in room 102 will not be meeting July 7th but will resume class on July 14th in the conference room. The contact is Vicki Hestley.
Loops of Love will meet at 6:00 pm July 8th, in the conference room upstairs. On July 15th they will meet at the home of Joy Privett.
David’s Prayer Shawl Ministry meeting will be Wednesday, July 15th at 10:00 am in the conference room.
“Welcome Home” Dinner for Missionary Jennifer Saunders – Everyone is invited to a dinner in honor of our missionary from our church, who has returned from Kenya and is awaiting a new assignment by the Mission Society. Come and hear from Jennifer about the endeavors we have been supporting! The pot-luck dinner sponsored by the Home Team is on Sunday, July 19, at 6:00 PM. Just bring a dish.
Update on Contract for Purchase of Vacant Lot
Last week, we reported that the Church Council approved the purchase of the vacant lot next to the Youth House. The seller had agreed to a contract, contingent on closing on the adjacent home with another buyer. However, this contract was dated and when we requested an extension, the seller declined to extend the contract at this time. We are still pursuing this opportunity and will keep the congregation updated. If you have donated toward the purchase of this vacant lot, we will be glad to hold the funds you have given until the matter is resolved. Please note that the article in the July newsletter does not reflect this update since it happened after print.
